The Misty Nook Times February 2025

2025 has got off to a brilliant start for me. I have been accepted into the Books Dragons Marketing Pilot Author programme, which means I get the opportunity to be Mentored by its Fabulous founder, Kirsty, to complete, polish, and then promote my first full-length adult fiction story. I Shall keep you all informed as I progress through the Journey.

My Adult Fiction Project is blossoming beautifully. My initial draft is currently 30,000 words towards my goal of a 50,000-word novel, and I am genuinely relishing the process of writing in this fresh genre. Crafting a vivid picture with words rather than relying on illustrations unlocks a new realm of creative expression, and I am excited about the journey that lies ahead for both myself and this project. I am exploring artwork for the cover and title of the book, and this is a sneak peek at where my mind is going with it.

Another project of mine that has been incredibly well-received and is garnering amazing reviews is ‘Emily’s Story.’ This book captures my mum’s journey. I am eager to share another story this year, so if you feel compelled to share your own experience, please reach out to me at Christine@Christineskippinsauthor.com.

On February 6th, I am thrilled to be invited to Granary Studios to record a professional podcast that will capture my journey from banking to writing and illustrating. This incredible opportunity, arranged by the local Chichester Business Development project to promote local talent, promises to be an inspiring morning, and I can't wait to share it with you!

And finally… My illustrations are sparking discussions about exciting commissions. To keep my costs competitive I have developed a style where I draw the characters, and then use Adobe Creative to smooth the edges of my sketches and Create the Backgrounds..

Here are some of my ideas.

Reviews …

Hi Chris. Omg. I loved both stories. Your writing is so beautiful. I felt like I was with both women in both time frames. I honestly thought that John was going to be the perfect man that every woman would want. He sounded so charismatic and the most loving man. Your introductory chapter had me as much as he had her loving him. I never doubted him until she was at the hotel. I could cry for her but I was too angry. I love how you ended it! Well done.

As for Emily, I felt like I grew up beside her and how scared she must have been in a world of such destruction and then the depression. I felt like it was what my ancestors went through only with descriptions. Which is more than my parents or grandparents would ever talk about.

Both stories had me wanting more.

I am honoured that you gave me the opportunity to read your work
