Developmental Edit is complete!
My novel has returned from the developmental editing process, and I won’t lie—initially, it felt a little like having my homework marked at school! However, the feedback I received was full of encouragement, praise and insightful suggestions and observations that will help me to truly engage my readers.
I know my characters and narrative inside and out, but I can’t assume my readers will feel the same until they reach the end of the story.
The developmental edits serve as a crucial reminder that every story needs to be polished, from maintaining tense consistency to ensuring that situations and characters are believable and cohesive. It’s a testament to the importance of clarity and connection in storytelling.
So now, it’s time for one final read-through by me before my book heads off for grammar and punctuation checks. And once that’s complete, it will just need formatting and then be ready for launch! This journey is a labour of love, and I am excited to share the fruits of my hard work. The finish line is in sight, and I can’t wait for readers to share my adventure in storytelling!
